A toucan in the backyard

My mother never really knows exactly what to do with the space she has in her backyard, so a few years ago, she decided to grow some banana trees there. Well, bananas are a pretty good fruit, so good that even the birds liked the idea. It is quite common to see lots of little birds there, from several different species and, every now and then, even a few small monkeys. And now, my mother has a toucan visiting her.

It is a free bird, just like any other, and my mother says that it brightens her day whenever it shows up. She says that it hangs around there and that, when it first started coming over to eat bananas, it would get scared and fly away whenever it saw her in the backyard, but now it even lets her take a few pictures. I told her that, in a few months, it will be coming into the house to have afternoon coffee with her haha

But anyway, this is one of the things I miss about living in the countryside. It is that unexpected side of what nature provides. It is literally nature coming to visit, and I miss being close to that. But it is nice that I have my mother to send me these pictures and let me ease my homesickness a little.

Minha mãe nunca sabe exatamente o que fazer com o espaço que tem no quintal e então, há alguns anos, decidiu que iria cultivar algumas bananeiras lá. Legal, banana é uma fruta boa e tão boa que até os pássaros gostaram da ideia. É bem comum ver muitos passarinhos por lá, de várias espécies e, de vez em quando, até alguns pequenos macacos. E então, agora minha mãe tem um tucano a visitando.

É um pássaro livre como qualquer outro e minha mãe diz que ele alegra seu dia quando aparece. Ela diz que ele fica por lá e que, quando começou a ir lá comer bananas, quando via ela no quintal, ficava com medo e voava, mas que agora até deixa ela tirar algumas fotos. Eu disse para ela que, daqui a alguns meses, ele estará entrando em casa para tomar um café da tarde com ela haha

Mas bem, essa é uma das coisas de que eu sinto saudade em morar no interior. É essa coisa inesperada que a natureza proporciona. É literalmente a natureza visitando, e eu sinto falta de estar perto disso. Mas que bom que tenho minha mãe para me mandar essas fotos e deixar que eu mate um pouco da saudade de casa.
