Respect Should Never Be the Price of Help
Just after sharing my thoughts and how I give, even though not close to my parents. Here we are sharing thoughts on giving with no respect, showing it openly that you're helping someone and they couldn't have gotten the help if not for you. It's a real temptation to feel on top of such.
But disrespect has not taken people far in life, in whatever form it is shown. In giving, one of the thoughts that should cross our minds is we are saving someone from the opposite of them not having that help and we should feel happy doing it if we have humanity at heart. But some are not.
I've actually met a few people like that, who feel like they are saving the world when they are helping with a little amount of money or lending a helping hand in a task. I mean, you'll almost think it's okay for them to do that when they do it but we've never thought of those receiving the help.
One time, I struggled so much to enter a friend's dm to ask for help from him. I struggled because I've always been the type on the giving end, not receiving end. After all my rehearsals and finally sending the message, what came out of his thoughts as texts felt worse than disrespectful.
Maybe it was because I don't like begging or that I was too used to be the one giving but I bet things would have felt a bit different if he had just said he can't help. But he went on explaining in a demeaning tone, like I had no other means to get the help except through him. I got insult, not help.
I mean, if you won't help from your mind, why help at all? If you don't want to give, why say hurtful words or act disrespectful to the person asking for help? There's more to life than being disrespectful especially at a time one is showing their vulnerability, not everyone that can do that.
I don't know for anyone else in dire need, who really have no other means to get help except through the disrespectful someone. But personally, I won't trade my respect and dignity for a temporary help. Maybe it's because I have this strong belief that I'll always find a way after.
Except it's a life and death situation, no disrespectful giving or humiliating assistance is worth my respect and dignity. Just my thoughts.
