Strange Shapes In Trees

Hey guys! Have you ever seen a tree engulfing animals or people? Well, that's what I thought when I photographed these trees.

These trees gave me the impression that they were frozen in time just as they were feeding. I was really struck by the different shapes of their trunks. If you look closely, some shapes could be human and others animal. Can you see them? I want to think that I'm not the only one who sees these shapes.

Did you know that seeing faces or human features in trees, clouds, or other objects is due to a psychological phenomenon called pareidolia?

According to Wikipedia: Pareidolia is a psychological phenomenon in which a vague and random stimulus (usually an image) is perceived as a recognizable shape due to a perceptual bias...
Pareidolia can cause people to interpret random images or patterns of light and shadow as faces...

Another case of pareidolia is seeing faces in electrical outlets, which happens to me often. It must be because I memorize people's faces; I never forget a face. I may forget the place and context where I saw it for the first time, but I will always remember the face.

My husband spends his time looking for lottery numbers on toast or breakfast arepas! Could that be another kind of pareidolia? 😄
