A Busy Day at School

‎Today I got to be part of the cooking team at school and also help Ryzen with his activity.
‎
‎Let me share how our day went.
‎
‎As assigned parents, we were supposed to make banana blossom siomai for the kids. But when we started wrapping, we realized it would take so long to shape each one by hand, and it just wouldn’t hold properly.

‎
‎So we decided to turn it into banana blossom spring rolls (lumpia) instead! It’s just easier to make. ☺️
‎
‎There were 4 of us mommies helping out. Some squeezed the banana blossom to remove the bitter sap, others chopped onions and garlic, and some carefully separated the lumpia wrappers so they wouldn’t tear. Once all ingredients were ready, we mixed everything well, tasted it to make sure the seasoning was just right, then tried making a few siomai first... but as I said, it didn’t form nicely.

‎While we were busy in the kitchen, the kids had their own activity... coloring, cutting, and pasting things that start with the letter A.
‎

‎
‎I let Ryzen color first. When it was time to cut, I was the one doing it, since it’s still a bit dangerous for him to use sharp tools alone.
‎
‎I just let him spread the glue and stick the cut-outs on his paper all by himself.
‎



‎
‎After that, we were also finished cooking, so it was time to eat!

‎The kids loved our crispy banana blossom lumpia so much... So many went back for more! Seeing them enjoy it made all the effort worth it. 🥰
