No One Is Safe Anymore — Not In Town, Not In Village, Not Even In School.
The state in which our country is in is one I won't stop talking about. Because it gets worse by the day, and a lot of people still keep acting as if it is none of their concern, they forgot that those this ev!l things happens to didn't expect it as well. Some even say it only happens in the rural areas, but I tell you in all honesty that it is just a matter of time. After they've occupied all this rural areas, they will definitely come into town as well.
They are even in town already, an incident happened about a month ago now, in a northern state, it happened in broad daylight, they bombed a busy road and in front of a general hospital. So, what are we been saying. It is closer to us than we think. No one is safe, I keep saying that, no one is, because those who taught they were safe the day before yesterday were abducted yesterday, and those of us who feel we are safe today might not be tomorrow.
I'm not wishing anyone bad, and I hope this insecurity gets dealt with soon. But I keep feeling somehow about how unconcerned and insensitive a lot of us are to the matter. All of the incidents happening has messed up with us psychologically and we are all trying to just find a way to not give it much thought, and that way it is making us less of a human. We are starting to lose empathy.
On Monday, this week. All public schools in Oyo state were asked to shut down following the abduction of school kids that happened about 2weeks ago. Guess what, the private school I'm serving in and all other private schools refused to shut down, they claimed the directive wasn't directly from the government but an educational body of some sort. Just imagine... Cause I still find it hard to understand how insensitive that is. Will this k!dnappers ask anyone if they are private school children or teachers, will this abductors ask anyone if.... Like 🤦, is a school not a school regardless of it being private or public, are humans not humans regardless of the school they attend...
The children and teachers who are abducted didn't see it coming, and for over two weeks now they are nowhere to be found. Those kids are of different age, we have as little as a two years old kid there, and the country is moving on as if nothing is happening, our leaders keep on campaigning for a reelection. We don't know how those people are fairing, we don't know what they are eating. But we are sure they are in very terrible conditions, because of all the heartbreaking, inhumane, and disheartening pictures and videos we see online, this perpetrators of ev!l post these things online for all to see, they are just too bold, and our authorities seem unable to stop them.
Campaigns and reelection strategies are what our leaders are busy with, but what use if the leaders that we have when we are still living in fear. What exactly is the value of the power they claim to wield when their citizens cannot sleep, travel, eat, go to work, hustle, and live in peace. For me, I already made up my mind to talk about these things at least once a week, we can't keep quiet, not until it gets better, and even if it does, it just means we will have good things to talk about then and not this sad news.
It is someone's child, mum, or father today, it will be another tomorrow. And as you read this, please remember those kids in the bushes, those kids and their teachers who are in God knows where, please have them in mind, say them a prayer, call out the government and make sure to vote wisely come next election.
Nigeria deserves better, Nigerian deserves better, Nigeria deserves peace, Nigerians deserves peace ✌️
