Many people wonder whether evil spirits can physically touch or influence human beings. According to the teaching in the Bible, those who are truly born of God are protected from the power of the wicked one.

In the book of 1 John 5:18, it is written that we know whoever is born of God does not continue in sin. The one who is begotten of God keeps himself, and the wicked one does not touch him. This passage teaches that a person who truly belongs to God lives carefully and guards his life. He pays attention to his actions, behavior, emotions, and how he relates with others. Because of this spiritual discipline and faith, the devil cannot gain control over him.

Being “kept” by God does not mean that a person becomes careless. Instead, it means the person remains watchful and avoids actions that could lead him away from God. A faithful believer strives to live righteously and maintains a strong relationship with God.

However, those who do not believe in God or who do not follow His teachings may become vulnerable to the influence of evil. In some cases, evil spirits may trouble or influence such individuals. This is what many people refer to as possession or spiritual oppression.

For this reason, it is important for people to believe in God and live according to His will. Serving the Lord and remaining faithful helps protect a person from the influence of evil spirits and the devil.

Therefore, maintaining faith, living a righteous life, and being mindful of one’s actions are important ways believers guard themselves spiritually and remain under God’s protection.
