This time, I’d like to share a new fan art illustration by @holozing. As I mentioned in my last post, I’ve been ill and confined to bed, so I’ve mainly been sketching on my Android tablet. While browsing apps on the Play Store, I came across Medibang Paletta, an update to Medibang Paint Pro with an interface optimised for mobile devices. I really liked it; it has unique features, such as support for PSD files, and although it’s in beta, I recommend it 100%. It could be an excellent option for Android users.

For this illustration, I chose a simple character, Waller. Although I hadn’t planned on creating an elaborate background, I got carried away and experimented with the app’s tools. I used a cell-shaded colouring style and a basic render for the background. I hope you like the final result.

En esta oportunidad quiero compartir una nueva ilustración fanart de @holozing. Como mencioné en mi última publicación, he estado enfermo y en cama, por lo que he estado dibujando principalmente bocetos en mi tablet Android. Revisando apps en la Play Store, encontré Medibang Paletta, una actualización de Medibang Paint Pro con una interfaz optimizada para móviles. Me gustó mucho, tiene funciones únicas, como soporte para archivos PSD, y aunque está en beta, la recomiendo 100%. Podría ser una excelente opción para usuarios Android.

Para esta ilustración elegí un personaje sencillo, Waller. Aunque no planeaba hacer un fondo extenso, me dejé llevar y experimenté con las herramientas de la aplicación. Usé un estilo de coloreado cell shading y un render básico para el fondo. Espero que les guste el resultado final.

💡 Boceto / Sketch	✒️ Lineart

I started by sketching the character as a thumbnail to decide on the pose and composition of the image. Finally, I cleaned up the lines and drew the lineart.

Comencé realizando el boceto del personaje en formato thumbnail o miniatura para definir la pose y tipo de composición que tendría la imagen. Finalmente, limpié las líneas y tracé el lineart.

🎭 Palette and Mask / Paleta y Máscara	🎨 Base Colors / Colores Base

I then created a colour palette similar to the reference image and applied a fill layer to the character, using a grey base colour to serve as a layer mask.

Luego armé una paleta de color similar a la de la referencia, y apliqué una capa de relleno en el personaje, con un color base gris para usarla como máscara de capa.

Once the base colours were in place, I moved on to creating the shadows. I used a cel-shading style combined with soft finishes, making use of the airbrush and hard brush tools. I also worked on the background using the rule of three planes in greyscale.

Por encima de los colores base pasé a crear las sombras. Utilicé un estilo cel shading combinado con acabados suaves, haciendo uso de la herramienta aerógrafo y pincel duro. También trabaje en el fondo con la regla de los 3 planos en escala de grises.

Finally, I worked on an additional layer of shadows for the background and added highlights to the character, before making some final colour adjustments to ensure everything blended together and looked better.

Finalmente trabajé en una capa adicional de sombras para el fondo y añadí las luces en el personaje, para posteriormente realizar algunos ajustes finales en el color para que todo se integrara y viera mejor.
