MI CULTIVO CASERO - ¡LAS PLAGAS NOS INVADEN! | (Spanish and English) | MY HOME CROP - PESTS INVADE US!

Hola Amigos y amigas de la comunidad HIVE, feliz de estar nuevamente con ustedes, contando más experiencias de vida, esta vez con un tema muy interesante, relacionado con las plagas que invaden nuestras plantas o cultivos; les estoy hablando de la mosca blanca.

Hablar de moscas no es un tema que me atrae, por lo repugnante que son; pero ¿sabían que sus plantas pudieran estar siendo atacadas por un tipo de plaga en particular llamada la mosca blanca?

Resulta, que tengo unas plantas de pimentón en periodo de crecimiento. Diariamente las riego y observo si tiene hormigas o cualquier insecto visible para eliminarlas de una vez. Pero nunca llegué a pensar que esta planta estaba siendo atacada por esta plaga, hasta que una de sus hojas, casi amarillenta, se desprende y deja ver unas cositas blancas pegadas en su cara inferior o envés. Reviso bien la planta y observo que alguna de sus hojas también presentaba lo mismo. Enseguida busqué mi Tablet para tomarle algunas fotos e investigar sobre el mismo.

Al investigar sobre lo observado se destaca lo siguiente: “los Aleurodidos (Aleyrodidae) son una familia de insectos homópteros conocidos vulgarmente como moscas o mosquitas blancas”. Ellas se localizan en el envés de la hoja, porque es allí donde se alimentan de la sabia de la planta, a través de la succión de este nutriente; provocando así el debilitamiento de la planta de cultivo de pimentón, tomate, lechuga y otras hortalizas.

Hello friends of the HIVE community, happy to be with you again, telling you more life experiences, this time with a very interesting topic, related to the pests that invade our plants or crops; I'm talking about the white fly.

Talking about flies is not a topic that attracts me, because of how disgusting they are; but did you know that your plants could be being attacked by a particular type of pest called the white fly?

As it turns out, I have some paprika plants in the growing season. I water them daily and watch for ants or any visible insects to get rid of them at once. But I never thought that this plant was being attacked by this pest, until one of its leaves, almost yellowish, falls off and shows little white things stuck to its underside or back. I check the plant well and observe that some of its leaves also showed the same thing. I immediately looked for my Tablet to take some photos and investigate it.

When investigating about what I observed, the following stands out: "Aleurodids (Aleyrodidae) are a family of homopterous insects commonly known as flies or whiteflies. Read on: "they cause significant damage to cultivated plants, which is why they are considered pests for agriculture" (Aleyrodidae - Wikipedia).

They are located on the underside of the leaf, because that is where they feed on the sap of the plant, through the suction of this nutrient; thus causing the weakening of the paprika, tomato, lettuce and other vegetable crops.
