Starting My Succulent Journey

Though I know succulent from several years ago, I never had the chance to cultivate them or bother to know how to grow them properly. I had one before but it died several days after I bought it.

Since I am home lately, I started noticing some abandoned plants that we have. My family loves growing decorative plants but from the last couple years, we got too busy with life and neglected the plants in our balcony and around the house. Interestingly, these plants grow naturally and is alive. So, about three days ago, I notice a lot of succulents around the house especially Echeveria and Aloe.

There are many pups growing in a pot and even on the floor which has some soil in it. My balcony is facing east and this plants just grows in a neglected environment. I guess, it really thrives in arid soil conditions.

Just look at how dry the pot is. Despite looking like that, there are some pups which are growing around it. Some pups strangely grows on the floor where it has some soil. My mom told me she watered the plants about once every two weeks or sometimes rarely as our balcony is open.

Good thing is, succulent doesn't need a lot of water. I don't have to water them for the next couple of days. It's plants for lazy people but loves aesthetically pleasing decorative plants. Going forward, I want to explore how to propagate different types and makes them look more aesthetically pleasing.

The current problem that I found around is leggy Echeveria. I spotted some are way too stretched and is beyond help. So I hope by moving some of them into smaller pots, the pups can grow properly. Another thing is, I plan on adding some rocks around it so I can move it inside the house instead putting it in the balcony.
