Greetings to all of you. I hope you are doing well and enjoying this beautiful day. I would like to share with you the process of making this traditional costume from the Andes of Venezuela.
The Andes is a cold region, which is why this costume is part of this beautiful tradition.
I made this girl's costume for a school project at the end of the school year, before the children left for their school holidays.
It is a combination of colored ribbons representing the colors of our flag.
In each section or grade, they represented different states of the country, where, in addition to their traditional costumes, they also had to prepare traditional food and games, among other things, from the state, so that their presentation or exhibition would include everything agreed upon in their project.
Un gran saludo, tengan todos ustedes, espero estén muy bien, disfrutando este bello día. Quiero compartir con ustedes la elaboración de este traje típico de los andes de Venezuela.
Los andes es una parte de clima frío, y es por eso que este traje es parte de esta bella tradición.
Elaboré este traje de niña, para un proyecto de la escuela de fin de año escolar, antes de que los niños salieran de sus vacaciones escolares.
Es una combinación con cinta de colores representando los colores de nuestra bandera.
En cada sección o grado hicieron una representación de diferentes estado del pais, donde a parte de su traje típico, también tienen que realizar la comida, y juegos tradicionales, entre otros, del estado, para que quedara su exposición o exhibición con todo lo acordado en su proyecto.
I start with the skirt by placing and folding the fabric into a triangle shape, then measuring 20 cm from the tip, and from that mark downwards I measure another 80 cm, as this will be the length of the skirt.
The 20 cm I leave at the top is the diameter for forming the waist, so that I can attach another strip with elastic for adjustment.
Comienzo por la falda colocando y doblando la tela en forma de triangulo, para luego desde la punta medir 20cm de alto, y desde esa marca hasta abajo mido 80cm más ya que será el largo de la falda.
Los 20cm que deje arriba es el diámetro para poder formar la cintura, y así poder colocar con otra tira con la elástica, para su ajuste.
I make the hem, and from this part I start to place the red ribbon, and then I stick on the other two ribbons, blue and yellow, leaving a gap of about 4 cm between each one. First I make a mark and then I use that as a guide so that they are properly aligned.
I sewed another strip about 8 cm long and gathered onto the hem of the skirt to make it look a little better.
Le hago el ruedo, y desde esta parte empiezo a colocar la cinta de color rojo, para luego ir pegando las otras dos cintas azul, y amarillo, dejando una separación en cada una de unos 4cm. Primero hago la marca y de ahí me voy guiando para que quede bien alineadas.
Le cosi en la parte del ruedo de la falda otra tira de unos 8cm de largo y arruchada, para que se vea un poco mejor.
I cut the top part, the ruana, into a triangle shape, leaving an opening at the top for the neck.
I also make a hem all around it, and then I glue black ribbon all over the ruana. The whole process looks easy to do, but each step takes time, because you have to mark where the ribbons go so that they look good.
Con la parta de arriba, la ruana, la corto en forma de triangulo dejando una abertura en la parte de arriba que será el cuello.
También le hago un ruedo a todo su alrededor, y luego le pego la cinta de color negra en toda la ruana. Todo el trabajo se ve fácil de hacer, pero cada uno lleva su tiempo, porque hay que marcar, donde van las cintas y que puedan quedar bien.
This traditional costume is now ready, and the girl who wore it was very happy because she looked great in her outfit and was able to perform her dance alongside her classmates.
Este traje típico ya está listo, y la niña que lo usó quedó muy contenta ya que se veia muy bien con su atuendo, y poder realizar su baile junto a sus compañeros.
