Vivir a mi propio ritmo: Aprendiendo, desaprendiendo y abrazando mi realidad / Living at my own pace: Learning, unlearning, and embracing my reality. [ESP-ENG]
Hace poco me sentí súper desanimada.
No somos perfectos, somos reales:
🌎 English Version
Sometimes we create this idea in our minds that we have to be like a finished product. You know, like something people see in a storefront window and that’s it, that’s all there is: "perfect," flawless, and done. But the truth is, life doesn't work that way. We aren't static objects; we are living processes. We go through stages—learning new things, unlearning old habits, and above all, relearning by falling down and getting back up. Looking in the mirror and understanding that we are incomplete isn't a flaw; it's our greatest virtue because it means we are alive, we are moving, and we still have room to grow.
And today I want to talk to you about this from my own experience, because it’s not always easy to accept.
Not long ago, I felt super discouraged. I ran into a couple of things that are honestly costing me a world to learn. No matter how hard I tried, I felt like they just didn't align with my skills or strengths, and it’s frustrating, I'm not going to lie. In the middle of that slump, I fell into a fatal trap: comparison. I started looking around and thinking, "Hey, why is it so easy for him? Why is that other person doing so well at it, and it’s so hard for me?"
That’s when you start demanding double or triple of what’s expected from yourself. We pressure ourselves thinking we should already be "ready," and we completely forget about what we go through on a day-to-day basis: the setbacks, the daily problems, the exhaustion of the routine... all of that also weighs on us, and nobody sees it on social media. We don't see that the other person is also having a hard time in their own way.
Our evolution has its own seasons, and each one has its value:
Learning:
Opening our eyes to new experiences, gaining tools, and discovering who we are in every circumstance.
Unlearning:
Perhaps the hardest step. Letting go of those habits, beliefs, or ideas that used to serve us before but no longer fit the person we want to become.
Relearning:
Looking at the same old things with fresh eyes. Trying again, but with the maturity and wisdom we gained from past stumbles.
We didn't come into this world to be perfect; we came to be authentic and real. Every stage has its own pace and its own beauty. Changing our minds, correcting our course, and accepting that we don't know something today that we will understand tomorrow is simply part of our nature.
What I am learning to accept:
Accepting that I don't know everything and that I don't have to be good at everything doesn't make me less; it makes me human.
Everyone has their own pace:
Just because someone easily does what's hard for me doesn't mean something is wrong with me; it just means our strengths are different.
The routine and the problems also teach us:
The day-to-day, with its gray days and its setbacks, is also part of the learning process. Overcoming today's frustration builds tomorrow's maturity.
We aren't perfect, we are real: It's okay to feel discouraged, it's okay for something to be hard. The important thing is not to throw in the towel and to remember that I'm still on the path.
So if you feel overwhelmed today, if you're demanding too much of yourself, or if you feel like you're moving slower than everyone else, breathe. Let’s take off the pressure of having all the answers right now. Give yourself permission to doubt, to try, and to fail. Celebrate your progress, no matter how small it seems, because you are polishing your own version. At the end of the day, life isn't about "arriving" at the finish line already completed, but about having the courage to transform along the way. Has it ever happened to you that you demand too much of yourself when you look at others?
