Cuando el plan falla: Mi camino para encontrar el equilibrio en la incertidumbre / When the plan fails: My path to finding balance in uncertainty. [ESP-ENG]

Over the years, I have carried an invisible bag filled with expectations. Many times, I have found myself searching, with almost obsessive intensity, for the "perfect formula" for living. We convince ourselves that there is a foolproof method: if I study enough, if I organize my accounts to the millimeter at the shop, if I plan every detail of my week, or if I handle my responsibilities with surgical precision, then—and only then—nothing can go wrong. We wrongly believe that perfection is a shield that protects us against failure.
However, my daily reality has taught me that life is anything but linear. Being a university student while simultaneously managing the administrative and customer service responsibilities in a family business has forced me to face chaos more than once. I vividly remember those days of heavy rain when the shop seemed to surrender to the storm, or the shifts where we were left without electricity for more than five hours. According to my mental "formula" at the time, we should have closed or paused operations because conditions were not ideal. But reality demanded something else: we had to adapt, improvise solutions under the entrance roof or work in the dark, and keep going, serving those who arrived, transforming a crisis scenario into a moment of family bonding and resilience.
That experience, like many others, showed me that our obsession with perfection is, in reality, a form of resistance. We resist the unexpected, the things we cannot control, and in that process, we miss out on the beauty of authenticity. Perfection is static; life, on the other hand, is constant, fluid, and often unpredictable movement.
Sometimes I feel that my days require me to set aside the rigid structure of my agenda to simply listen to what my well-being truly needs: whether it's getting lost in a book, spending time drawing—connecting with that part of me that enjoys colors and simplicity—or simply contemplating the nature that brings me so much peace, like the mountains or the detail of a flower. I have understood that my "formula" wasn't in precision, but in the capacity to be flexible.
Why are we so afraid of deviating from the script? Perhaps it is because we have been raised under the premise that our worth is directly tied to the flawlessness of our results. We become used to being merciless judges of our own actions, viewing any deviation from the plan as a failure. But today, I want to propose something different: What if we stop measuring success by the absence of mistakes and start measuring it by our ability to remain at peace while everything changes? Building our own version of peace is not an act of passivity; it is a rebellion. It is deciding that, even when the environment is chaotic, our inner world doesn't have to be. It is understanding that being "successful" is having the maturity to embrace uncertainty, to recalculate the route without losing our cool, and to accept that, even though not everything is under our control, our ability to choose how we react is the greatest power we possess.
✿ ------------------- ✿
Letting go of control is not giving up; it is setting yourself free. It is accepting that we can be committed students, dedicated workers, and still allow ourselves to fail, learn, and change course without feeling that our self-worth is at stake. Life is found in the nuances, in the unplanned pauses, and in the ability to smile at what didn't turn out as we expected.
In the end, I have realized that being human implies exactly that: making mistakes, adjusting the course, and moving forward with the same strength. I don't need a perfect formula to be valuable, and neither do you. It is enough to have the intention to do things with love and the courage to get up after every storm. May today be the day we decide to be kinder to our own processes, because perfection was never the destination, but rather the path we are walking together.
