Poor little rat stuck in the bucket. I Saved it Though
One of the saddest things I've seen but at the time, I was very scared of rats, mice, lizards, basically all reptiles and even some insects. If it's bigger than an ant and it's not cute looking, you can bet I was afraid of it.
I came out of the building, trying to go get some water only to find this strange thing.
Unfortunately I was the only one in the house and so I couldn't call anyone to come and handle it.
I had two options.
Option 1: leave it to die which I couldn't do because my conscience would get the better of me.
Option 2: Be a big girl and save this poor rat.
I didn't even know what I was looking at, rat or mouse. Because I'm in Ghana and a lot of the wild rats were big, I unintentionally classified small ones as mouse and big ones as rats but this is a rat.
So I decided option two. Now all that was left was how to save this rat, without having it run all over the place and scare me into a comma. The only thing I could think of doing was kicking the bucket so it'll come out and get out.
But what if it run back into the house? That's what I was worried about. Plus I was genuinely scared of it at the time.
So even pretending the rat could hear me, I wanted to make a deal with it.
The Deal
If I kick you, do you promise to run outside the house and not back inside?
Who am I kidding, this little guy just wants out of the water first. I actually searched for how long these rats can last in that situation. It turns out, if it can keep its head and nose above water, it could go for 72 Hours. But about 3 minutes tops if it's forced to stay under the water.
That goes to show how great swimmers rats can be. If it was an ant, it would have been dead a long time ago.
Although, going back to the video I felt bad for letting the poor guy stay that long, but believe me when I say, I was genuinely scared, that's why it happened that way.
So I actually stopped the recording and gathered enough boldness to kick the bucket (no pun intended).
What would you guys have done in my situation?
