Tread Lightly

Been a while since I did a #Beersaturday post. These beer posts are becoming few and far between for me these days. I've barely drank any beer or alcohol this summer and the few beers that I did drink were repeats that I've already posted about once or twice over the years. This week is another revisit actually, but my first redo in over a year so I think its okay. Its a light lager by Muskoka Brewery. Lets get right into the review, shall we?

Tread Lightly

Brewery: Muskoka Brewery
Origin: Bracebridge ON Canada
Style: Light Lager
Abv: 4.0%
IBU: Unknown
SRM: Unknown
Size: 568ml (extra large)

Marketing: The can hosts three different shades of green on a white background. Images of Muskoka chairs and hiking boot treads decorate the face and give it an outdoorsy vibe common among craft beers in Ontario. The name is a fitting play on words for a like lager.

There is a small little blurb on the back of the can, but not a lot of info about the beer listed there. I like the design overall. To me it feels simple, almost minimalistic, but in a good way.

The can is extra large, quite a bit bigger then a standard tall boy, as you can see in the photo above. Its meant to be a full pint I believe.

Color: The beer poured a strong golden yellow color, like golden hay. It was especially nice looking when the sun hit it.

The majority of the head dissipated quickly, but a nice hearty ring of tightly packed bubbles stuck around for a while, which was nice. I always like that

Nose: The bouquet was sweet and fruity at first but then smelled more grassy to me later on. I got notes of hay and cereals coming through.

Taste: Not a lot of sweetness to the beer, airing more on the dry side. Not much tanginess or bitterness either. It was balanced but maybe a little bland in the taste department, which is to be expected from a light beer I suppose. Some light beers are more flavorful than others. That being said, there were some cereal notes that I liked.

This is a crushable beer that you could drink a lot of on a summer day.

Texture: Lightly carbonated with a light bodied mouthfeel. Pretty standard to me overall.

Impression: I've reviewed this beer in the past but it was a year ago around this time so I feel fine doing it again. I'm not going to bother digging up that old post to see what I said about it back then, or to compare the two reviews. Overall I'd say that I liked the beer, though it was a little bland. Sometimes bland is okay in a beer I think. This is a great one for summer when you plan to do a lot of drinking. Its a little boring though if you only plan to drink one beer though. The extra tall can is fun as well. I would probably buy it again.

I only have one beer to discuss this time unfortunately. Thanks for reading it. What do you think of this beer? Does it sound good or a little too plain to you? Let me know in the comments. Cheer everyone.
