Grow Ginkgo
Ginkgo Biloba commonly known as ginkgo tree or a maidenhair tree. It has various uses in traditional medicine and as a source of food. Most nurseries sell only male ginkgo trees. The female produces fruit that smell bad but have some uses so if you want a female it may have to be grown by seed. The ginkgo tree grows best in Hardiness Zones 3–8.
We added a ginkgo to our permaculture farm three years ago, with any luck it will be here for many more because they can live to be over 1000 years old. They are the oldest living tree species and have been around for hundreds of millions of years.
It is also one of the best-selling herbal supplements in the Canada, United States and Europe and is used for many things like treating blood disorders and memory issues. A simple green tea can be made from the green leaves that grow back every year.
