So, last Saturday we had our hangout as usual, and it was just so much fun that we did not want it to end. We are currently on the second topic for this week, which is “FREE SPEECH”.

But before we proceed with the details of the topic, let us take a look at the winners of the last topic, which was “CLIENT PRIVILEGE”.

This topic was geared toward each member of the community, telling us their thoughts on privacy and what the cost could be when it came to the well-being of others. So, should client privilege be broken if it would mean saving a life?

We got to see that this privilege is sacred and should be held in the highest esteem because breaking it, for whatever reason there might be, has more repercussions in the long run. It was an enlightening topic, indeed.

*For this author, he told us that situations like these are barely black and white. Each unique situation determines how it gets to be treated. Because once people become scared of speaking to doctors or lawyers, they will withhold valuable information for fear of prosecution, which will only cause them further harm, and keeping quiet when there is risk to people will also be a great risk. So in the end, each situation calls for its own specific solution.”

This author told us that in matters like this, trust is key. It’s the only reason people are willing to bare their souls out because they believe it would never be divulged. Privilege should be respected always, because that will be the only way that more people will trust in the system t protect their secrets.
