Shapeshifters (Original Poetry)

I recognize you, lizard
no matter how much you pimp your vehicle
Castles, palaces, offices
They are great places to perform your rituals
Governments, actors, musicians,
let’s not forget thy beloved champions
You’re so addicted to recognition.

You’ve fallen from the skies
hiding among humans
shape shifting,
masquerading,
desperately trying to keep the illusion alive.

In the midst of a spiritual war
you swing your mighty weapon
hoping
wishing
that fear can hold the line.

Run now, reptiles
you still have time
the veil is thinning
and we’re crushing the ice.

You hate those infinity loops
despite all your efforts
to populate the Moon
Promising material goods
to several fools
won’t cut it anymore, and you know it’s true.

You ridiculed us
poisoned our minds and foods
thinking we’ll forget the game you play.

ENOUGH!

As more of us awaken
and remember why we came
You’re scared shitless
because you know:
We will recognize your pathetic name.

So keep shape shifting
as we blow out your harvesting terrain
and reactivate our twelve-strand DNA.
