What Is Happiness?
I've been away for quite some time having had some debilitating depression. I had this week off to refresh myself. I am starting a new dose of medicine and I don't know if it is the medicine or the week off from work but I am starting to feel better.
I don't know the secret to happiness, but I can tell you that unhappiness usually comes from wanting things to be different than what they are. We have preferences. When life doesn't happen the way we prefer we get sad, upset, and unhappy.
I heard someone say in a Youtube video that we should one have one preference. I prefer to have things the way they are.
Now, this doesn't mean that we don't try to change things, but fully accept and be OK with what is happening at this moment.
The Apostle Paul talks about learning to be content. Whether he had little or had much, her learned to be content.
It just seems to me, I can be much happier if I fully accept what is happening at this present moment. If I prefer to have things the way they are.
