Manganest is another event held in the city of Barquisimeto. Previous editions have been held at a sports complex located in the eastern part of the city. Some time ago, I published a post about one of its editions.
Last weekend, they celebrated their second anniversary. For two years, the event has been held consistently at the aforementioned location, but for this anniversary, they sought out a special venue and managed to partner with the Metroplis shopping center. It was there, in the central area of that shopping center, where fans of geek culture, K-pop, and cosplay gathered for two days.
Manganest es otro evento que se celebra en la ciudad de Barquisimeto. Las ediciones anteriores se han celebrado en un complejo deportivo situado en la parte este de la ciudad. Hace algún tiempo, publiqué una entrada sobre una de sus ediciones.
El fin de semana pasado celebraron su segundo aniversario. Durante dos años, el evento se ha celebrado de forma constante en el lugar mencionado, pero para este aniversario buscaron un lugar especial y lograron asociarse con el centro comercial Metroplis. Fue allí, en la zona central de ese centro comercial, donde los aficionados a la cultura geek, el K-pop y el cosplay se reunieron durante dos días.
Several brands and commercial companies participated in this anniversary edition of Manganets, setting up their stands and products around the central stage, where the Christmas tree is located. Most of the brands had already participated in other editions of this event and are also regular participants in other similar events in the city. As they offer products within this niche, it is common to see them with their stands at geek events.
Collectible products, posters, necklaces, decorations... everything that young fans of this event love to buy. There was also a brand of fluorescent T-shirts, which are very eye-catching. I didn't ask about the current prices, although I think they are the same, only that with the constant devaluation of the currency, they are becoming more and more expensive. There was also a dessert stand that participated in Matsucon, and I noticed that they were selling quite a lot.
Varias marcas y empresas comerciales participaron en esta edición aniversario de Manganets, instalando sus stands y productos alrededor del escenario central, donde se encuentra el árbol de Navidad. La mayoría de las marcas ya habían participado en otras ediciones de este evento y también son participantes habituales en otros eventos similares en la ciudad. Como ofrecen productos dentro de este nicho, es habitual verlos con sus stands en eventos geek.
Productos coleccionables, pósters, collares, adornos... todo lo que a los jóvenes aficionados a este evento les encanta comprar. También había una marca de camisetas fluorescentes, que son muy llamativas. No pregunté por los precios actuales, aunque creo que son los mismos, solo que con la constante devaluación de la moneda, cada vez son más caras. También estaba allí un puesto de postres que participó en Matsucon, y me di cuenta de que vendían bastante.
I only attended on Saturday; I was too lazy to go on Sunday, plus the cosplay parade was scheduled for Saturday. There weren't as many cosplayers as at Matsucon or Comic Expo, since Manganest is a smaller event, but there were enough to make the cosplay parade fun.
There were three cosplayers who, in my opinion, deserved to win. The jury was made up of three well-known cosplayers, but they didn't announce the results that day. They said they would announce the winners the next day, on Sunday. I didn't go on Sunday, but I know the Batman cosplayer won because he sent me a message telling me he was the winner of the parade. His cosplay is very good, and he also has a foundation that helps children with cancer and participates in other charitable works in the city.
Solo asistí el sábado; me daba pereza ir el domingo, además era el sábado cuando tenían programado el desfile de cosplay. No había tantos cosplayers como en Matsucon o Comic Expo, ya que Manganest es un evento más pequeño, pero había suficientes para que el desfile de cosplay fuera divertido.
Había tres cosplayers que, en mi opinión, merecían ganar. El jurado estaba compuesto por tres cosplayers muy conocidos, pero no anunciaron los resultados ese día. Dijeron que anunciarían quiénes habían ganado al día siguiente, el domingo. No fui el domingo, pero sé que ganó el cosplayer de Batman porque me envió un mensaje diciéndome que era el ganador del desfile. Su cosplay es muy bueno, además tiene una fundación que ayuda a niños con cáncer y participa en otras obras benéficas en la ciudad.
The area where the shopping mall had set up Christmas decorations for people to take photos was well lit, and I was able to take some good pictures. Most of the costumes are made by the cosplayers themselves. Some may have more resources or sponsors to buy and commission costumes, but I like to appreciate when the costume is made with a lot of effort, as it encourages their creativity.
There were several musical performances, a dance by the Academy of Artistic Music, and a girl who sang a few songs. On Saturday, everything ended early, and I was able to go home at a reasonable hour. On Sunday, I wanted to go out, but at the last minute, I felt lazy, and since there was no parade, I stayed home.

El espacio donde el centro comercial había instalado decoraciones navideñas para que la gente pudiera tomar fotos estaba bien iluminado, y pude sacar algunas fotos buenas. La mayoría de los trajes los hacen los propios cosplayers. Es posible que algunos tengan más recursos o patrocinadores para comprar y encargar trajes, pero me gusta apreciar cuando el traje se hace con mucho esfuerzo, ya que fomenta su creatividad.
Hubo varias actuaciones musicales, un baile de la Academia de Música Artística y una chica que cantó algunas canciones. El sábado todo terminó temprano y pude irme a casa a una hora razonable. El domingo quería salir, pero en el último momento me dio pereza y, como no había desfile, me quedé en casa.
