마지막 총격씬은 인상적이다. 샤를리는 두번째 여인과 형들이 총에 맞아 죽은 뒤 피도와 단둘이 살아남아서 선술집으로 돌아온다.
슬픔도 감각할 수 없을 정도로 감정이 메말라버린 듯 피아노를 치고 있는 샤를리의 비어있는 눈이 이 영화의 화룡점정이다.
결말에서 여러 가지 해석이 가능한 것은 트뤼포 영화가 인물들을 상식선에서 묘사하지 않기 때문이다.
