Life As A Tree

Life as a tree would be peaceful
To not have a care in the world
As people, societies and civilizations with concerns, goals and worries fly by
A tree just sits there, forever watching, forever stationary
The world might be dark, it may be light, ordered, or chaotic, but the tree remains
Unmoved by the world around it
But the tree isn't unchanging - it grows. Maybe its hard to see, but if you watch closely, and for long enough, it grows
Those around may never notice. Their lives are too busy, full or turmoil and mayhem - the tree always looks the same, just a tree
But over generations, as the rest of the world blisters by, the tree grows
Extending its roots deeper underground, broadening its trunk, reaching into the sky

Trees are very wise, and we would do well to respect them
They've seen a lot
