Challenge #04969-M220: More Money Than Sense
My favorite obsession -- Luna
Fairytales always have things in three. The first and second son only exist in the tale to try and fail, whilst the third wins it all with his kind heart and willingness to listen to advice.
Horseshit.
It makes third sons believe in winning it all in spite of their brothers. That's not at all realistic. What really happens is that the first son gets everything, including the father's adoration. The second son is kind of... kept in reserve. Trained up to step in just in case something happens to the first one.
Third sons are given the equivalent of safety scissors and glitter crayons. Third sons can mostly expect to be given money and nothing to do but drugs, parties, and easy bedmates.
It's no shock that third sons can't get one thing - their father's love.
It's an enormous shock when that third son is suddenly thrust into the family business. Starting with the concept that something terrible had to have happened to the first two sons. Having no training, no concept of proper behaviour, a neurology ruined by years of party drugs, and the kind of education where the tutors are paid to praise... it should be no shock that the family business soon becomes a catastrophe.
It shouldn't surprise you that I am that third son. Ask Dad what happened to my brothers. He won't shut up about that and I am sick of hearing it.
So yeah, I wrecked Dad's stupid empire and made a joke of his stupid legacy. But I made more money in shorting the stock so he should be proud of me, right? Wrong. I wrecked his toys so I have to go sit in the corner for not playing with them right.
Nevermind that nobody bothered to tell me how to do that.
Anyway. I have an insane amount of money and I'm doing great things with it. I'm building my empire in my image, not Dad's. And all he can do is whine about it.
I'm making stocks nobody's ever heard of and taking them to the moon. I don't rent politicians, I own national leaders who'd get on their knees and suck anything I tell them to suck.
One word from me and it's more than Dad's empire that goes up in flames. It'd go up in a mushroom cloud. A lot of mushroom clouds, if you know what I'm saying.
I have all the money in the world. I can do anything. I can make anything happen.
Except one thing.
I can't get Dad to say he's proud of me.
