Challenge #04961-M212: The Ultimate Weapon

Humans accidentally create a weapon that can speed up a black hole's dissolution. Come to find out, black holes have enough material in them to nearly create a second universe. -- BKF

[AN: This has to happen in a different universe to my usual one. It just doesn't fit]

If there is one thing true about Humanity, it's that there's an intense desire for a bigger, better weapon. Not always to use against their eternal enemy - other Humans - but to definitely demonstrate how They had better not mess with Us.

Humanity went from cannons to missiles to sub-orbital nuclear bombs. They invented interstellar flight just to threaten rebel colonies with an even bigger bada-boom.

And so on, as the poet said, ad infinitum.

The newest, shiniest, scariest Ultimate Weapon needed a test. Something to show the rest of the universe that they had better behave. A device to accelerate a black hole.

With something like that in Humanity's pocket, the rest of the Universe had better watch out. All they had to do was show it off once and that would be the end of war.

This time, Humanity was right. Just... in the wrong direction.

They thought it meant that nobody would dare fight them.

The scientists and leaders responsible for the weapon's creation had found a safe space to test it. The irony of finding a safe space to detonate the most dangerous weapon to date was completely lost on all of them.

There were a lot of things set up to record the detonation. They wanted data, statistics, a spectacular to frighten the living shit out of everyone who saw it. So they could threaten, but never use.

The best weapons, they say, are the kind you only have to use once.

Recording devices active. Every picosecond set up to be preserved for posterity. The weapon was set, primed, aimed, and ready. Countdowns ticked towards zero.

Someone very important pressed a big, red button.

The scientists and leaders were the first Humans to observe the birth of a new universe. They were also the last Humans to observe anything, as the entirety of reality was overwritten by a brand new existence.
