About to start a new DnD campaign

Hi, guys!

Guess, what? I'm about to start Dungeon Mastering new DnD campaign based on "Reflections of Etherna" book series. Yet I don't know how I will balance everything that needs to be balanced, cause after all it's a world with no elves, dwarves... No races, except people. I think about adding them, or, may be, if all my players will pick human race I will leave it like that, with no adding of magical creatures.

Second question is what I will do with weapon, cause fire guns already exist in book series. May be I just will change bows to them, I yet don't know. But it sounds like a plan.

Anyway I hope everything will be fine and my players will get pleasure from the game. Wish me some luck;)
