Raw Vulnerability [Daniel Shaw]

Daniel Shaw, a finalist on The Voice Australia (2019), got me feelin' chill yesterday afternoon with his emotionally driven, piano-led pop songs as the rain poured outside. He used to be a busker and had recorded and released music before the audition. The show is believed to have amplified his talent and boosted his confidence.

Below is the song of his that I first came across, and I liked it, hence featuring it in today's edition for the TTT initiative by Ablaze.

Daniel Shaw - Don't Leave Me Now

Melodic, emotional, and keyboard-driven. Sort of an emotional ballad where his vocals feel vulnerable. I like how his voice builds intensity after the slow start. He reminded me of James Blunt, especially in the first minute of the song.

This next song was the title track in his EP, which was released in 2019.

Daniel Shaw - Cross the Line

Another emotional, fragile, and deeply introspective delivery from the artist. His heartfelt tone carries a raw vulnerability that conveys the song's theme. The simple arrangement (piano-led) supports his vocals, keeping the emotional focus clean and clear.

Anyway, the third tune was a remake of his original song from his 2011 album, Love.

Daniel Shaw - Hey, Little Brother

This track was featured in his 10 Years album (2019) while he was gaining popularity. Again, he delivered it with his core style of vulnerability. I love his tender, earnest, nurturing, and conversational tone. Listening to this felt as though I was the little brother he was trying to comfort, lol!

It gives that sense of safety and reassurance. I got somewhat lost in it and even wished for a continuation after the song ended. It called for a repeat. After a few replays, I listened to the original version, but I have to say, I like this better.

These three will be staying on my playlist for a while.
