Diamonds in macro

DSCF8700.jpg

Shot with Fuji XT5, 80mm macro lens

Ever since getting my macro lens, I've been thinking of random things to take photos of since I can't go out to take pics of nature all the time. A recent idea came up to me - of course a jewelry would be a nice subject!

These shots are the result of my recent interests: Makeup (learned about lighting), photography (lens filter), crystals, and jewelry.

This ring has natural diamonds with a total carat of 0.73 in 18k yellow gold.

I've learned so much about lighting and now trying to photograph jewelry in the most luxurious way I know. :P I used a direct light (without diffusers) and a star filter lens which is what caused those sparkles on the image.

They have a stunning sparkle which makes it a really good subject for this.

This is without the star lens filter so you can see the details better.

Diamonds are the hardest mineral on earth (that we know of so far) which makes them a pretty good crystal for rings since it doesn't scratch easily.

The setting is called pavé. The diamonds are placed close to each other like this instead of just one big diamond. This setting makes the jewelry spark even more because of a lot of tiny diamonds.

It has a u-cut pave style on the band which I also just learned when reading about pavé and other settings.

Apparently, one of the cons of having a pavé setting is that the stones can fall off depending on how skillful the jeweler is.

Can you see how much diamonds there are in this? Honestly, I didn't really see it at the beginning lol. The ones on the sides are way too small for the naked eye but when I saw the macro shot, I didn't realize there are also tiny ones in between the second-biggest stones.

You can see it better here.

I swear I cleaned this before taking photos but it's just after seeing the photos made me realize they are still quite "dusty" lol.

DSCF8834.jpg

This is as close as I can get with the stones. I'm so happy with the details. :D Although I could learn better on how to set aperture and speed settings so more details can be focused.

DSCF8838.jpg

It's so cool that we can grow them now that's why it's getting cheaper and cheaper. I wonder if there is a planet full of diamonds. That would be blinding!

DSCF8881.jpg

Seeing it this close makes me amazed of how skillful the jeweler is. I also love the heart-shaped on the side. :D

I'm so happy with these shots it was hard for me to choose which ones to include. :P
