Confined

Surrounded by people yet alone. The people’s ticks are clear. The shirted man next to me in a meditative state to endeavour to stave off the nicotine withdrawal, tapping, tapping. The sparkling mother opposite browsing, flicking through marketing, contemplating what more purchases she can justify by trend and greed. The group of teenagers sipping on their poison of choice, giving them the artificial stamina to take on what life throws at them.

Then there is the thoughtful soul radiating peace and tranquility. His eyes melow, his brain ticking over like a wise grandfather clock. He looks up and sees that I wonder. I see the inner Buddha smile I find so familiar, his eyes, his cheeks. In the crowd there is always comfort.
We must look up, connect, for that moment, our energies combine, it’s nothing short of beautiful.
