[Writing Contest] Finish the Tale #12: Memories

I woke up in a world where no one remembered me. Shocked and surprised, I called out for someone, and a nurse rushed to my side. She quickly summoned the doctor, who was nearby. The doctor's expression was a mix of curiosity and concern as he approached me.

As I looked at the doctor, I asked, "Where am I? How did I get here?" The doctor's words hit me like a ton of bricks. "You've been in a coma for a century," he explained. "Everyone you knew has passed away." I was stunned. But what amazed the doctor was that I hadn't aged a bit during that time. It was as if time had stood still for me, while the world around me had moved on. I felt like a stranger in my own town.

The doctor discharged me from the hospital that same day. Confused and disoriented, I made my way back to my house. As I reached the door, I noticed everything had fallen into disrepair. The once-familiar surroundings now seemed foreign and worn. I opened the door, and a cloud of dust greeted me. I stepped inside, my eyes adjusting to the dim light. Everything was covered in a thick layer of dust. I rushed to look at my photo album, and as I flipped through the pages, tears dropped from my eyes. Memories flooded my mind, but they felt like they belonged to someone else.

After cleaning up the apartment as best I could, I decided to visit my friend's house, assuming it would be nothing more than a nostalgic trip. But as I arrived, I found that the house was no longer there. The entire neighborhood had changed beyond recognition. It was then that I realized I had no one left, no connections to the past. From that day on, I decided to start anew, to forge a new path and create a new life for myself. It wouldn't be easy, but I was determined to move forward, one step at a time.
