The current season is almost over, so it's time to once again submit my Season Report Card for the previous season in just before the window closes. Join me as I take a look back at the season that was.

Once again, I reached Diamond 1 before stalling out in my quest to reach Champion League. Overall, I'm pretty happy with my performance this season. I logged 402 ranked battles and at a win/loss ratio of 0.95, I was pretty close to even. The number of battles entered and won both decreased about 10% from the previous season, so I expect to see a decrease of about 10% in my overall rewards below.

Now that all of the Reward cards are Soulbound, there is no DEC burn value assigned to the cards to compare season to season. And since we can now get multiple cards in every chest and potions are once again usable the amount or cards and quality of cards will be much higher going forward. For example, in the season previous, I received 58 Reward cards which was about average for the last few months, but this season I received 254 Reward cards. That's almost a 5-fold increase in the number of cards received.

Other than Reward cards, the contents of Loot Chests stayed the same so I can still make equal comparisons to the previous season.

As I mentioned above, I expect about a 10% reduction in this season rewards from last season due to fewer Ranked Battle wins this season. First let's look at potions. I received a total of 465 potions this season verses 503 potions last season. A reduction of 38 potions or 7.6 percent, which is pretty close to what I expected. Next is SPS and I received 104 this season compared to 118 last season. A reduction of 14 SPS or 11.8 percent as expected. Merits come next and this season was 3970 compared to 5586 last season. This was a decrease of 1616 Merits or 28.9 percent, a much larger decrease than expected. Finally, we come to Chaos Packs where I received only 2 packs compared to 5 last season. Clearly, I wasn't very lucky when it came to Packs and Merits this season.

Rental revenue continued the trend of the last few months and dropped significantly again this season. The decrease was about 33% this season which is pretty huge. I've heard a lot of grumbling about the loss of rental income from the Mav Chat in Discord so the drop in revenue is expected as everyone seems to be getting hit with the slowdown.

Splinterlands has made some changes recently to rentals, introducing season long rentals, a 1 DEC listing fee per card and automatic delisting of unrented cards. It will be interesting to see if any of these features increases Rental Revenue by getting rid of the really cheap listings or if these are just more gimmicks to burn DEC.

For the first time I saw a decrease in the total amount of SPS received this season compared to last season. Half of the decrease was because I didn't participate in Brawls this season and the rest was from a slight decrease in Staking and Ranked battle rewards.

To be honest, I have mixed feelings about Soulbound reward cards. While it's a little more exciting to see all those extra cards in my Loot Chests, I can't immediately flip over to the Marketplace and place a value on them. So, it leaves kind of an empty feeling, like when I used to play games that would give you great rewards...that were worth nothing. I guess I'm spoiled by #play2earn now, I expect my rewards to have real value.
