Our second year starts
Gohan Power is a project we started in 2016. Initially its aim is to design a subscription box for kids to learn food. However we had a question "is subscription box the best way to help kids to learn food?". Then the project was hibernated for few years.
Last year, @akipponn restarted the project by growing small vegetable plants for kids to sell at a local market called Samstagsmarkt in Plagwitz Leipzig.
Being at the market was full of good surprises. Due to the lockdown, there were less kids at the market last Spring. Adults were interested in especially Japanese plants such as Shiso.
Although we still have a passion to show how fun to see, grow and eat food to kids, we change our direction simply to tell power of Gohan (Gohan means meal or food in Japanese) in diverse ways.
- selling plants and food
- producing Japanese food with local ingredients
So 2021 is a second year for us after the long hibernation. Now we are doing germination tests to see how new Shiso seeds work :)
