With the end of the fiscal year approaching, quite a few people at my part-time job are leaving.

The fourth-year university students are quitting as soon as they graduate to start full-time jobs—some are switching to office work, while others are heading overseas in April. As for me, my lifestyle hasn’t really changed much over the past 2–3 years, so lately I’ve found myself quietly watching my colleagues who are about to embark on new chapters with a bit of envy 😅

Back in my student days, there were entrances to new schools, grade promotions, and job hunting. During my company employee years, there were department transfers and the like. When you’re part of a big group like that, every spring you’re kind of forcibly swept into a new flow—whether you like it or not. It feels like life gets a clean break, for better or worse.

But once you step outside that system… you have to create your own momentum. Of course, there’s no rule saying you have to start something new just because it’s April. Still, watching everyone around me move forward makes me feel somehow left behind—like only my own time has frozen in place.

Hmm… I have a feeling I wrote something pretty similar last year too 😂

年度末ということで、パート先では退職が続いています。

大学生4年生は就職のため卒業と同時に退職、事務仕事に転職するという人もいれば、4月から海外へ行くという人もいました。私自身は生活スタイルという点ではここ2-3年ほど特に変化のない暮らしをしているので、まもなく新しいスタートを切ろうとする同僚たちを、ちょっと羨ましく眺める日々です😅

学生時代は進学・進級・就職、会社員時代には部署異動など、大きな集団に属していた頃は、毎年春には半ば強制的に新しい流れに乗ることができました。良くも悪くも、日々の生活に一旦区切りがつく感じ。

でもそこから外れてしまうと・・新しい流れは、自分で作るしかないんですよね。まあ別に4月だからって何か新しいことを始めなければいけないわけでもないのですが、周囲を見ているとなんとなく置いてけぼりを食らったような、自分の時間だけが止まっているような、そんな気分になるのでした。
