A cup of coffee while we reflect on how to mind our thoughts 💭

What thoughts do we constantly dwell on? That was the topic we discussed while enjoying a latte at Los Samanes bakery, located in the industrial zone. As we go through life, there is something we are constantly exposed to and cannot escape, no matter how hard we try: change. Every decision we make brings about a change, whether big or small, good or bad, and it may even be due to a third party’s decision, but what is certain is that we do not remain the same forever.

That is why we must be mindful of the thoughts we nurture, because many of these changes can play a nasty trick on us if we let ourselves be carried away by anxiety about the future, family circumstances, personal issues, or the state of the country, and take our eyes off the One who controls everything: God. In Philippians 4:8, we are called to: “Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely... if there is any excellence... think about these things.” So we must set aside all the worries, fears, and doubts that constantly flood our minds.

For $2.40, we were able to philosophize about this topic in a cozy spot with tasteful decor and friendly service. Since we’ve been here before, we’ve come to realize that the coffee’s flavor depends on which barista is on duty—sometimes it’s delicious, and other times, like this time, it tastes watery and you have to add sugar to enjoy it. What’s always delicious is the bread, and my husband took the opportunity to buy a piece and dip it in his coffee with milk 😅. Would you dare to do that? For some, doing it in public isn’t well-received.

Anyway, it’s not easy to always have good thoughts, but we must be on guard against the negative ones that want to nest deep within our psyche. And remember that God’s Word tells us to take every thought captive (2 Corinthians 10:5), which means actively submitting every idea, argument, or belief to the obedience of Christ and filtering them through what He tells us through His Word ❤️
