Pixel Posting | Big city _ Big Kitty #16
Hello there Hiveans!
Another week of posting ahead of us, I hope to have all your attention as always :)
If you read my blog recently, you already know my cat basically ran my wallet over. Long story short: dental infection, vet bills, stress, guilt, the whole dramatic package. She’s fine now – don’t worry – but that situation slapped some real financial awareness into me. Like, what if I wasn’t able to cover it?
What if next time, I’m not ready?
The truth is, most of us are just money pass-through machines. Money comes in, money disappears, and we don’t even question where it went.
We convince ourselves we need that weird spicy sauce we saw once in a YouTube video. Or that 6th monthly subscription we forgot about.
Two months ago, I decided to flip the script.
Less junk spending. Less “just because” purchases.
No more impulse snacks, no more pointless “treats.”
I’m focusing on smart groceries – stuff that actually fuels me.
Frozen fruit, high-protein foods, meal prepping so I don’t end up panic-ordering overpriced trash when I’m tired.
I cut out extra subscriptions too.
Game Pass? Gone.
Random streaming services I barely use? Canceled.
And the big one – I quit vaping.
That little “just one a day” habit was burning a massive hole in my budget. Cash disappearing in real time, and I barely noticed it.
Shall we take a break to admire or despise something that I made not so long ago.
Static version down below!
That's "żabka" store, most popular convinient store around Poland, saved me on many occassions so I thought, why not?
I hope you like it! Let's get back to it...
My approach
Right now, the plan’s simple: build a 3-month emergency fund and start investing in small, safe chunks.
I’m not trying to be the Wolf of Wall Street – I just want to stop feeling like my finances are a house of cards. I want stability.
Freedom. And yeah, eventually, the ability to just say “screw it, I’m flying somewhere” without checking my bank app three times and sweating.
We all say we want that kind of life.
But if you’re not actually changing anything, nothing changes.
It’s not about never spending – it’s about spending with purpose.
And something weird happens when you start treating your money better: you start treating yourself better too. I eat better.
I think more clearly.
I sleep easier knowing I’m not living paycheck to “oh god I’m broke again.”
Looking back at the last six months, I barely recognize the way I used to live. And honestly? I’m proud of where I’m heading.
I’m not perfect.
I still slip sometimes. But the direction is good. Solid. Sustainable.
That's it for today's post, let me know how you feel and if you got any questions!
