Mama Bening, still fit at high age!
Hello Hive Family,
I am back again to share another life experience. How many of you have a grandmother who is still active at the age of 88? Or a grandfather who is 93 and still going strong?
I would like to introduce you to my grandmother and grandfather—though, to be precise, they are not my parents' direct parents, but rather cousins of my grandparents. Mama Bening is the cousin of my paternal grandmother, and I have always called her "Mama," as my parents taught us. Her husband is Papa Angei, who is already 93 years old.
So, what's the story behind this post?
I was truly amazed when I recently visited them together with my brother and my father, during my vacation in Maragusan (my hometown). Their house was impeccably clean, as if someone young were taking care of them. But there is no one else; just the two of them live in that beautiful home. They cook for themselves, clean their home, and maintain their daily routines without assistance.
What amazes me most is that at their age, most people need care, but they do not. They take care of each other. Watching them, I realized that independence isn't just about physical strength, it's about spirit, routine, and the quiet dignity of growing old together in your own home.
I asked Mama Bening what her secret is. She simply smiled and said, "Keep moving, and don't worry too much." Wise words from a woman who has lived through nearly nine decades.
Thank you for reading my story. I hope you enjoy the photos I captured there. Have you met elderly couples who continue to inspire you with their strength? I would love to hear about them in the comments.
