A Fasting Cat in the Hostel
Today, fasting made me feel weak. I was very thirsty, and time felt so slow. I was lying on my bed in the hostel, feeling sleepy, when I suddenly heard a soft sound. I opened my eyes and looked at the window.
A golden cat was sitting there, quiet but beautiful.
Its eyes looked kind, as if it understood my hunger and thirst. For a moment, we just looked at each other. It felt like the cat was asking me:
“Are you hungry like me?”
I thought, “I know I will eat at sunset, but this poor cat doesn’t know when it will find food.”
At that moment, I realized something important. Hunger is not only my test; it is a daily struggle for many animals too.
I made a promise to myself:
“When I eat, I will also remember this cat. Kindness is not only for people—it is for all living beings.”
The cat looked at me one last time, as if it understood my thoughts, and then slowly walked away
. I watched it disappear and felt that maybe this meeting was not an accident. Maybe it was a message—life is not just about thinking of ourselves, but also about caring for others.
