Silver Raffle (update-26/07/26)
I've been away for a few days, and it's taken me a while to make some progress on updating this.
Sometimes I just want to talk about good, positive, productive things and a great atmosphere, but unfortunately, it's not always that easy.
Here We Are.
First of all, a big hello to everyone—I hope you’re all having a great weekend.
I think many of you who’ve seen the content and have been following along already know what happened in Venezuela a little over a month ago, and now that the damage to my house is becoming apparent, you also know a bit about the help being provided through the platform to repair some of the damage.
As I said at the beginning, I’d love to have more positive news—we’ve been going through a bit of a roller coaster. One of the positive developments is that I’ve already been able to use part of the funds raised to buy bags of cement, and I’ve used those resources to patch up part of the roof that had cracked, although I’ve only been able to do so on the outside.
In addition to this, a few other issues have been fixed, but I’m sorry to report that there are some things that are beyond my control—for example, let’s start here.
Look in the back at the line new/old concrete.
Last week, thanks to the funds raised, I was able to buy four sheets of zinc, which were absolutely essential to start this construction. However, when I removed the first ones, I realized that the iron beam supporting this structure wasn’t an iron beam at all, but a heavy wooden bar that was already starting to give way, so I had to make an immediate change by embedding the iron in the concrete and sealing it with cement. Other issues arose, such as those involving the top beam and the two supports for the entire roof. These houses are old and have never been repaired; it wasn’t until this earthquake that we were able to see all the damage in every part, especially on the roof. But in this picture, we can see the two new sheets that have already been installed. However, part of the trim that was put up has been damaged by the heavy rains we’ve had these past few days, which is why it’s been a slowed down a bit because I can’t afford to waste any materials.
On the other hand, the pipe that was supporting this internal structure was removed, and that’s the one I’m currently using at the base of the ceiling inside the blocks. I still need another steel pipe, about 4 meters long, which will run across the room and replace this concrete beam; since removing this beam will cause the entire white ceiling that’s visible to collapse—it’s too cracked—and due to the accumulation of water on this concrete surface, it’s quite dangerous—it must be rotten.
