Inflation

Are these disasters really natural?

Today, Friday, July 24, I’d like to wish a very good morning to everyone who is part of the blockchain—those who are part of this specific community.

This is a great space to vent about the things that infuriate us, and as always, there’s something new to discuss today.

Inflation.

The inflation of the bolívar against the dollar is something that’s plaguing all of us Venezuelans. The simplest example I can give is when we need to buy a kilogram of rice—that kilogram of rice costs us 1,200 bolívares, equivalent to $2. However, when you get your $2, you use the most effective and reliable exchange rate to exchange your $2 at the market price, which in this case would have been 1,200 bolivars. But by the time you make the exchange and get your 2 bolivars, you realize that the dollar no longer costs 600 but has risen to 650, so your 1,200 bolivars no longer equal $2. Yet while you’re scraping together those few cents you need to make up the difference in bolivars, the price of the product is no longer $2 but has also gone up to $2.50—and that’s where the price of the bolívar rises, the price of the dollar rises, and, as a result, the price of products also rises.

And it’s an endless cycle—a repetitive cycle that keeps disrupting our daily lives—and it’s quite frustrating when you have things to do and so many obstacles stand in your way.

For example, I’m going to get up early; I realized there was power, so I have to quickly grab my cell phone and try to post something as fast as possible. This is awkward and annoying because sometimes it doesn’t give me enough time to pay attention to all the details of a post.

  • And today is already the fifth day of constant rain and power outages.

Oficial page say:

"The official dollar exchange rate set by the Central Bank of Venezuela against the bolívar stands at 742.23 Bs/USD, showing a gradual increase throughout 2026."

  • Evolution of the Official Dollar Rate (BCV) in 2026 January 2026:

It started at approximately 301.37 Bs/USD.

April 2026 It rose to around 477.62 Bs/USD.

June 2026: It surpassed the 600 Bs/USD mark.

July 2026: It supassed the 700 Bs/USD.
