My Quiet ME Time at DK Press
In my 30s, I realized how important it is to spend quality time with yourself.
When I was younger, I thought having fun always meant being with other people. But now, I learned that spending time alone is important too. Life gets busy and work is usually stressful. As we get to adulthood, we tend to focus on our responsibilities that we forget to take care of ourselves.
So I decided to slow down and spend more time for myself, working on both my physical and mental well being.
Once a week, after work, I spend my "me time" at DK Press, a coffee shop near both my office and my house. I love it because it is convenient, but more than that, I love the ambiance. I usually go around 1:30 PM when the cafe is still quiet. There are only a few customers, soft jazz music is playing, and the place feels peaceful.
Pastries and desserts to choose from.
This time, I ordered an iced sugarcane drink with tea and lemon and paired it with blueberry cheesecake. The drink was refreshing. Honest review though that their cheesecake is just 2 stars over 5 compared to what I usually have at starbucks, what did I expect? It's cheeper anyways.
After I finished the cheesecake, it was still too early to go home so I ordered another one to give their pastries a chance. This time it is a caramel cheesecake.
Too sweet.
At that point, I gave up on the cafe's pastries and desserts.
But I did not let that ruin my mood. I came there to relax, enjoy my own company, and slow down for a while.
Let me show you what makes this place relaxing:
Proof that I was here: mandatory mirror selfie.
As I get older, I learned that being alone does not always mean being lonely. Sometimes, happiness is simply sitting in a quiet place, listening to good music, enjoying a cold drink, and finding peace in your own little corner of the world.
I hope you felt relaxed while reading this as well.
