IT IS WHAT IT IS : CHOICES
Despite all the crazy odds I face every single day, I still make it through — thanks to a few good things along the way. Family will always come first, but how far can you go to help them and tolerate things for them? That’s been on my mind lately. Am I taking things the wrong way? Huhu. But for now, let’s just say "it is what it is".
Another day, another story to unravel. I just need to get this off my chest. It's been circling in my head for too long, and honestly, it's exhausting. Shesshh.
Today was such a beautiful day. No sun, just gloomy skies and so much green everywhere. I went to my sister's garden to look for vegetables since we had nothing for breakfast and my parents were out in the farm. Ended up cooking vegetable soup with dried fish. A weird but balanced combo — healthy and not-so-healthy. Hehe.
By afternoon, my sister was home from school. I asked her to grab something for lunch and the things we need for lumpia later. She came back with pancit, chicken liver, and 'agogo' veggies. And it got livelier — my sister brought my nephews with her.
They were full of energy — noisy, enthusiastic, and so naughty. After lunch, I had them nap with my little brother. They were still playing and making noise at first, so I went in and told them to sleep. That’s when they finally calmed down.
For a reward, I made them snacks. So when they wake up, they’ll have something to be happy about. I made pancakes — a little burnt, but still good. Sean loved them. Z… not so much. Haha.
Their place was far, so Mama suggested they stay the night and go home tomorrow since no one could walk with them. But they really wanted to go, and my little brother decided to join them. Before they left, I asked if they wanted guava. I picked the ripe ones and packed some for them too. They were so happy. Mama also gave them a little money baon so they could buy something when they got home.
The house was totally quiet with just me and Mama. Since it was getting late, I thought about what to make for dinner. There was still a little pancit left, but it wasn’t enough for all of us. So I decided to pick some bitter gourd from Papa’s garden. I think they’re defective because they’re curvy, so I figured they’re the perfect ones to pick even though they’re not fully grown yet — they won’t grow well anyway.
So for dinner, we had sautéed bitter gourd without eggs. It was literally so bitter, maybe because I picked them too young. But I can just say ‘it is what it is.’ I already picked them, sliced them, and cooked them. Besides, bitter gourd is a healthy viand.
Your life, your choice. Just bear in mind that every decision you make in life affects other people. Stop being so selfish. Open your eyes. Understand what others feel. That’s all I’m asking. Honestly, your choices are messing with our peace of mind. Just so you know. If it even matters to you.
This ends my blog. Thank you for reading and stopping by. See you again on my next one. Lovelots😘
