Hello dear community, I hope you are all well.

A few days ago I was in the living room and I noticed a fairly large insect walking back and forth along the back of the sofa.

What surprised me most was the way it moved. It moved very slowly, and its color was also unusual to me.

It was about 20 millimeters long, brick-red in color with black spots on its back. The ventral part and legs were dark brown or black.

I photographed it to identify it.
Due to some shared characteristics, it resembles the species "Conradtia principal", which has been reported in Tanzania.

Conradtia principal belongs to the subfamily Cetoniinae, or "flower beetles". This subfamily comprises more than 4,000 species, of which very few have been studied. In their larval stage, they feed on decaying wood and fruit. In captivity, they can eat fresh fruit. As adults, they feed on fruit, petals, and pollen, hence their common name.

After photographing it, we took it to the garden to protect it, although I would have liked to see it for a while longer.
