A weekend with a dose of adrenaline
And not a small one ๐
Perhaps I already mentioned somewhere on Hive that my brother and his family spent the past month on vacation in Belgrade.
I haven't seen my brother, his wife and son, a guy who just turned 18 (we organized his birthday party in a club on Ada Ciganlija) for years, and I promised that I would be available to them every moment they could spend with me.
I announced a few days off at work and enjoyed their company during that time.
As they came to Serbia in a car with a right-hand drive, I offered to be their driver, because that way I would be with them the longest.
And they reciprocated by offering me to join them on the ride they are planning on the first day of the weekend ๐ค
We arrived at many interesting places, visited family, swimming pools, spas, museums, restaurants...
Since I haven't been in the company of teenagers for a long time (and I was teenager many years ago), I forgot how much young people need fun and how much they enjoy a rush of adrenaline.
Because, even before they arrived, they had a wish list ready, and to be honest, they surprised me with some places, because even though I'm a resident of this city, I didn't know that all of them existed.
OK, maybe it's not lack of information, it's more interest.
And so, we drove to TurboMax on the Pancevo road, a building where there used to be a wholesale market.
And today it has been turned into an amusement park and training ground for adrenaline - the electric karting track.
Although I have been a driver for many years, I have never sat in a karting vehicle (that little formula).
I had a wish before, but maybe not the opportunity (or maybe not the right company) and so it remained an unfulfilled wish until now.
Until last weekend ๐
The red and blue track, which are combined on weekends, with a race that lasts 8 minutes, allows you to drive 7 to 8 laps, depending on how skilled and fast you are.
And how many times you spin due to sudden braking or how many times you hit the guard rail.
We bought tickets, signed that we accept responsibility for damage to the vehicle or the track๐ฐ, chose our nicknames (I decided on the one you know too ๐), chose helmets and headed to the vehicles...
The first ride was super interesting for us and we decided to repeat it immediately on the second day of the weekend, with a double time, of 16 minutes, with an additional charge of boost lasting 5 seconds per lap.
Man, how old and out of shape I am ๐
Or maybe it's not about fitness, but just the fact that I've never driven a vehicle like this before, where the small steering wheel "gets out" of your hands when cornering and when you need a little more power to control it.
For too many years I've been driving with power steering assistance, so I've forgotten what steering the wheels looks like when there's no power steering...
I only know that after the first 8-minute ride, my forearms hurt, and I also felt the fatigue of my neck muscles, which I used to overcome the resistance of gravity in the curves for my heavy head, which was additionally burdened by the XXL helmet ๐
I'll share with you a few videos of our ride, and I'll brag about my reflexes, when as a Formula 1 driver, I avoided hitting the vehicle driven by my brother, when he turned in the middle of a curve (1:36).
When we finished the race, we took a picture on the championship podium.
I was in the second position, and as the champion, my nephew was in the highest position, who admitted after the race that he had already driven a kart with his friends in Scotland.
The next day, I was in III position.
After the ride, we rested and freshened up in the cafe (and dried off, since I was wet with sweat as if I had been to the gym, not just driving), and after that we decided to play a little more.
I showed my skills in billiards, which I haven't played for a long time, but I still have the feeling in my fingers and the geometry in my head to know where the ball will hit.
After pool, we picked up some darts and played a few games of 301 and 501.
But in a game of pool and darts, there wasn't even 10% of the excitement we had in the drive.
In order to recommend this complex, I have visited all the attractions, the bowling alley and the lasertag room.
Although there is something for everyone, I will associate this space and its name TurboMax only with racing.
All in all, this weekend experience was great for me and I believe that I will visit this attraction again at the first opportunity.
