Hola, queridos amigos de Motherhood, hoy quiero compartirles un video que me llena de mucha felicidad, acerca de una experiencia académica que nos ha dejado llenos de satisfacción; se trata de la Feria de Ciencias 2026, la cual se llevó a cabo en las distintas instituciones del país.

Esta es la primera participación de mi hijo, quien está en primer grado y le fue increíble, ya que realizó un experimento bastante sencillo, ideal para su edad, fácil de comprender y explicar, y creo que esto fue la clave para que fuese elegido para representar a su salón frente a un jurado en el acto oficial de la feria de ciencias.

Como el proyecto escolar se trataba sobre el ambiente y el agua, buscamos un experimento que estuviese directamente relacionado con este tema, así que elegimos el filtro natural del agua, el cual consistía en demostrar cómo es ese proceso de filtrado por el que pasa el agua desde que sale de las nubes, cuando llueve, hasta que llega a los ríos, siendo las montañas y el suelo un enorme filtro.

Los materiales que usamos fueron: algodón para representar las capas más profundas del suelo, piedras, arena, agua sucia, llena de palitos y hojas, y un envase plástico.

El armado lo realizamos en casa y con una semana de anticipación; preparamos la exposición. A Angel le gusta explicar las cosas con sus propias palabras, así que fui adaptando el texto en base a lo que investigamos y lo que él entendía. Llegó el día de realizar su exposición en el salón de clases; cada niño debía llevar un experimento. Angel lo defendió con claridad y confianza; le fue muy bien.

Estábamos felices con su presentación, pero nunca pensé que lo seleccionarían, ya que los otros experimentos eran muy visuales, con espumas de colores y reacciones químicas que llaman la atención, pero que pocos entienden a esta edad. Sin embargo, fuimos seleccionados para una segunda fase. Esta vez, realizo la exposición en su salón, pero con un jurado, que estaba pasando salón por salón con la finalidad de escoger uno de cada grupo.

En esa segunda exposición, el experimento se dañó un poco porque se cayó el envase; el salón se llenó de arena y piedras por todos lados. Sin embargo, él defendió su proyecto con mucha confianza y seguro de lo que hacía; es aquí donde lo seleccionan para asistir a la feria de ciencias y representar a primer grado.

Seguimos practicando la exposición en casa, al menos una vez al día y cuando llegó el día del acto, al llegar al salón, Angel se puso nervioso al ver la decoración, el micrófono, el sonido; se dio cuenta de que ya no era en su salón de clases, en frente de sus compañeros. Traté de calmarlo diciéndole que si él ha cantado en público anteriormente, puede con esto y más. La decoración estaba muy linda; algunos niños fueron vestidos como científicos. Nosotros no teníamos bata ni lentes, tampoco sabíamos que debíamos ir así; él solo fue con su uniforme y su experimento y dio lo mejor de él en su presentación.

Fue una experiencia gratificante y enriquecedora, no solo por su desempeño, sino porque aprendimos también del trabajo del resto de los niños. Todos hicieron un trabajo increíble; me emociono mucho ver cada exposición, todas muy interesantes. La verdad es que todos los niños son muy inteligentes; solo hace falta ayudarlos y guiarlos correctamente para que puedan demostrar todas las cosas increíbles que pueden realizar en los distintos ámbitos de la vida.

Hello, dear friends at Motherhood. Today I want to share a video with you that fills me with so much joy—it’s about an academic experience that has left us feeling truly satisfied. It’s the 2026 Science Fair, which took place at various schools across the country.

This was my son’s first time participating. He’s in first grade, and he did an amazing job. He conducted a fairly simple experiment—perfect for his age, easy to understand and explain—and I think that was the key to him being chosen to represent his class before a panel of judges at the science fair’s official ceremony.

Since the school project was about the environment and water, we looked for an experiment directly related to this topic, so we chose the natural water filter, which involved demonstrating the filtering process that water goes through from the moment it leaves the clouds when it rains until it reaches the rivers, with the mountains and soil acting as a massive filter.

The materials we used were: cotton to represent the deepest layers of soil, rocks, sand, dirty water filled with twigs and leaves, and a plastic container.

We put it together at home a week in advance; we prepared the presentation. Angel likes to explain things in his own words, so I adapted the text based on what we researched and what he understood. The day of his classroom presentation arrived; each child was supposed to bring an experiment. Angel presented it clearly and confidently; he did very well.

We were happy with his presentation, but I never thought he’d be selected, since the other experiments were very visual—with colorful foams and eye-catching chemical reactions—but few kids understand that at this age. However, we were selected for a second round. This time, he presented in his classroom, but in front of a panel of judges who were going from classroom to classroom to choose one project from each group.

During that second presentation, the experiment got a little messed up because the container fell over; the classroom was covered in sand and rocks everywhere. However, he defended his project with great confidence and certainty in what he was doing; that’s when they selected him to attend the science fair and represent first grade.

We kept practicing the presentation at home, at least once a day, and when the day of the event arrived, as soon as we walked into the auditorium, Angel got nervous when he saw the decorations, the microphone, and the sound system; he realized he wasn’t in his classroom anymore, in front of his classmates. I tried to calm him down by telling him that since he’d sung in public before, he could handle this and more. The decorations were really nice; some kids were dressed as scientists. We didn’t have lab coats or goggles, nor did we know we were supposed to dress that way; he just went in his uniform with his experiment and gave it his all during his presentation.

It was a rewarding and enriching experience, not only because of their performance, but also because we learned from the work of the other children. Everyone did an incredible job; I was really moved by each presentation—they were all so interesting. The truth is that all children are very intelligent; they just need the right help and guidance so they can demonstrate all the amazing things they’re capable of in different areas of life.
