Rorschach Series Can Be Confusing

When I first watched the movie "The Watchmen," I had to see it a few times to really appreciate the story. I believe the same is true for DC's Black Label series Rorschach. Even though I picked up Chapter Eleven, it appears that this story has been dragged out over the previous ten issues. A tortured detective is seen speaking with deceased characters helping him piece together events leading up to present day. He could be in a dream with these victims or it could just be the alcohol talking.

Rorschach is referred to as a separate person, yet it seems that there is a big connection with the detective. A political plot to kill a presidential candidate is riddled with questions. The detective questions people in different locations at different times. However, these people are already victims! Innocent people have been led to their execution. All this and then the phone call comes in that the time is now. Comparisons of Los Angeles to New York are discussed on the way to the final chapter. Conspiracy theories are about to be proven!

Tom King is excellent at creating these type of involved stories. Jorge Fornés maintains a very dark feel within the pages with his artwork. One thing is certain and that is this detective realizes that he must become Rorschach to solve the entire mystery. I am not sure if he believes that the answers he receives are true or not, but he at least now he can act with confidence.
