Batman #611
Both Batman and Catwoman find themselves in Metropolis in search of Poison Ivy, the character not the plant, although she is very plantlike. Even though he owns The Daily Planet, Bruce Wayne doesn't like visiting Metropolis because it is nothing like Gotham City. From a visual perspective, Metropolis is represented by its brightness, lacking any of the darkness of Gotham City. The kiss that he last shared with Catwoman has been in Batman's mind ever since. When Mr. Wayne visits his newspaper, Lois Lane and Clark Kent become very suspicious about the reason for his visit.
Doctor Thomas Elliot runs into Bruce Wayne at the airport which brings back another memory for Bruce. Both Tommy and Bruce were kids and while waiting for Bruce's dad and Alfred to return from registering for a medical convention, they happened to notice the Green Lantern sparring with The Icicle above them. This was their secret!
After visiting Talia Head at LexCorp in regards to a large Ethylene purchase, Batman is able to track down Poison Ivy but honors the wishes of the Catwoman to let her get there first. Ivy needs the plant hormone because of her Aztec Gilia plants. Ivy does have a surprise in store for our Gotham City heroes when Superman appears by her side.
Jeph Loeb does a great job with tying together the worlds of Metropolis and Gotham City in his story. However, Jim Lee and Scott Williams are responsible for the contrast between the cities with their artwork. I can't wait to read the next issue when Batman goes toe-to-toe with Superman!
