The problem
with a sword
is that it has
two blades
the one you do not see
is the one that cuts
and leaves you
bleeding for mercy

Be cynical of love
and be shielded
hold the rock
next to your heart
to protect it
from falling debris
from the window
of least expectation

Ignorance
does not describe
the surprise of black ice
run and slide
into the path of pain
you escaped this time
be proud of yourself
soon
you will wish
for
imbalance

Surface wounds
scar and heal
but a tear
in the wall
of a
trusting heart
is fragile and needs
time to heal
that
you
do not have

Loving means hurting
and hurting gets old
do not lay
beneath icicles
they are beautiful
but can kill

You sacrifice
and give
receiving nothing
in return
fun
enjoyable
I do not think so
chewing rocks
to build character
painting flowers
to impress

Abstinence
is the answer
if you do not love
you do not hurt
