Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World: Unbox & Install

Hi there. In this post I do an unbox and install of a Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World bundle. My brother went out to buy a Nintendo Switch 2 and I helped out with the install.

Some people are annoyed by the price tag of the Switch 2. For us two, the price is what it is. My brother's company reimburses the Switch 2. It is paid for by his work.

Unboxing

Here is the outside of the box.

The box was not too heavy and the contents inside were nicely packed. You get your controller, console stand, screen and power adapter. Note that the power adapter has a micro USB like port.

You also get a Mario Kart game code. Scratch off the grey area to reveal the game code.

The controllers have a tougher plastic this time around. It feels a little bit more durable compared to the Switch 1 controllers. The controller sides are easier to put on and off if you want to switch between controller mode and handheld mode.

Instead of sliding, it is more of a clip on and clip off movement. Clipping on the red and blue controller sides is easier. It is more snappy as I think there is a magnet that snaps it into place.

For clipping off, you want to press the button and then gently move the controller side part off.

Installation & Setup

One of the first install screens is language settings. Choose your language.

If you have never used the first Nintendo Switch, you want to choose the option that goes with this. Those who are replacing their Nintendo Switch 1 with the Switch 2 have to choose the System Transfer option.

We chose the System transfer option. In this method we have to have both Switch systems on and place them near each other. That way the files transfer from the old Switch to the new Switch 2 system. There is a long wait period here. Around 10 to 20 minutes (if I remember).

Once the Switch 2 is setup, you can then enter the Mario Kart game code for installation. Once Mario Kart World is installed, the game starts and it shows you various racing courses before the start menu.

The installation process overall is not too difficult. It does take time to put things together and setting up the software.
