Japan Promo Cards August 2026 ft. Mega Tatsugiri ex + Lida

Japan has revealed new promo cards for August 2026. Two new cards are featured. They are Mega Tatsugiri ex and Lida.

The other promo cards are new versions of Tynamo, Patrat, Special Red Card and Boss's Orders (Corbeau from Team Rust Syndicate). There is a new version of Wimpod (unreleased) [Pokemon Proxy card below.]

Lida Supporter Card

Lida is a niche Supporter card that goes with Mega Pokemon ex. You can only used this if one of your Mega Pokemon ex was Knocked Out during your opponent's last turn.

Search your deck for up 2 Basic Energy cards and attach them to 1 of your Mega Pokemon ex. Then shuffle your deck after.

A card conditional on 1 of your Mega Pokemon ex being Knocked out won't see that much play in a game. As a Knocked Out Mega Pokemon ex gives up 3 Prize Cards out of 6, you are likely to use this Lida effect once. Maybe twice if you use something like ACE SPEC Legacy Energy or Mega Gengar ex.

In decks that have multiple Mega Pokemon ex attackers, one of Lida should be enough. Two copies may be okay if the player really wants Lida to power up Mega Pokemon.

Mega Tatsugiri ex

Here is Mega Tatsugiri ex. This is a Basic Water Mega Pokemon ex with 260 HP, a one retreat cost and Lightning Energy. It is unknown when this card gets released in English and outside of Japan. Maybe in late 2026, dunno.

The only attack of Triple Crown Headbutt requires 3 Water Energy. You flip 3 coins. For each Heads, this attack does 150 damage for each Heads.

When it comes to coin flip attacks, I typically design a probability table with damage outputs.

Getting at least one head out of 3 is a 87.5% chance. This is at least 150 damage.

For at least two heads out of 3 flips, this is a 50% chance. You deal at least 300 damage.

The hard part is getting the 3 Water Energy to Mega Tatsugiri ex. Although not very popular right now, lightning weakness on Mega Tatsugiri ex is a major con. Lida supporter sort of helps but you need a Mega Pokemon ex to be Knocked out in order to use Lida. There is Misty's Vitality but there is a chance the opponent can knockout your Water Pokemon on the next turn with Boss's Orders.
