Mega Golisopod ex, Wishiwashi ex Japan Cards Reveal

Hi there. More cards from the upcoming Japan set Storm Emeralda are revealed. The English versions of the cards featuring Mega Rayquaza ex will release in the Delta Reign set on November 6, 2026.

Cacnea & Cacturne

Cacnea is not a great attacker but it is needed for Cacturne.

Cacturne's first attack is not great. For one energy you hit 30 damage to any 1 of your opponent's Pokemon.

The second attack, Punishing Needle is interesting. It has 10 base damage but you deal 50 more damage for each of your opponent's Pokemon in play that have an Ability. We had Scizor from the G block that had a similar attack. This Scizor was a niche attacker in some Metal decks. Cacturne may be a niche Grass attacker.

Wimpod

Wimpod is not a great attacker. It is needed for Golisopod or Mega Golisopod ex.

The Punk Out ability is kind of useful. If the opponent has any Pokemon ex in play, then this Wimpod has a retreat cost of zero.

Mega Golisopod ex

Here is Mega Golisopod ex. The card designers decided to make this a Grass (Bug) type.

This Stage 1 Mega has 340 HP, a 3 retreat cost and Fire weakness. The second attack Quatro hold requires 3 Colourless Energy or 1 Ignition Energy to deal 160 damage plus you retreat lock the opponent's Active Pokemon.

For one Grass Energy, Finishing Blow deals 60 base damage. This attack also does 160 more damage if the opponent's Active Pokemon has any damage counters on it. In total this does 220 conditional damage.

Wishiwashi ex

---

Wishiwashi ex is a bulky Basic Water Pokemon ex. This has 260 HP, a 3 retreat cost and Lightning weakness.

The Hydro Splash attack requires 3 Water Energy and 1 Colourless energy to deal 220 damage. A lot of energy needed for this attack is a drawback. There is no good Water Energy acceleration other than Misty's Energy.

The Ocean Gain ability can be used once during your turn if this Pokemon is in the Active Spot. You heal 50 damage from this Pokemon. Some players like tanky and bulky Pokemon like this. If the opponent cannot one hit knockout a Pokemon, then you can heal the damage away.

Delicious Rice Balls

Delicious Rice Balls is not your ordinary healing Item card. You heal 30 damage from your Active Pokemon. In addition, you heal 30 more damage for each Delicious Rice Balls in your discard pile (not including this card).

In theory, you can heal 120 damage if you have 3 Delicious Rice Balls in your discard pile. The problem with running multiple healing cards if that you sacrifice consistency in setup, draw power and for attacking.

Custom Vest

Custom Vest is a niche Pokemon Tool card that is compatible to Pokemon that are not Mega Pokemon ex. A non Mega Pokemon ex with Custom Vest takes 60 less damage from attacks of your opponent's Pokemon ex.

In July 2026, the comeptitive metagame has a near 50% share of Dragapult ex decks. There are some Mega Pokemon ex being used right now but they don't dominate the metagame. Custom Vest seems like one of those cards that is not good now but could be usable next year once the H cards go away and when we have more Mega Pokemon ex.

Legendary Ocean Trench

It looks like we have another 2 piece Stadium card that is coming to the game. You have to play both pieces at the same time and it is treated as one Stadium card.

Legendary Ocean Trench allows both players access to the card's effect. When a Pokemon is healed (yours or opponents), the amount of HP healed is doubled.

Aarune

---

This Aarune Supporter looks to be pretty good in decks that rely on Stadium cards.

You search for up to 3 Supporter or Stadium cards in any combination, reveal them, and put them into your hand. Shuffle your deck after.

Decks that run the 2 pieces Stadiums should strongly consider Aarune. Aarune is also good for bumping existing Stadium cards like Team Rocket's Watchtower with a new Stadium.
