Cozy Turmeric Coffee

I recently prepared a Turmeric Coffee using brewed coffee instead of an espresso shot, resulting in a beverage with a subtler golden hue. I opted for regular milk due to its ease of frothing and added ¼ teaspoon of black pepper, which provided an extra kick and enhanced the absorption of turmeric's beneficial compounds.

I found that this warm, spiced beverage kept me feeling cozy for about an hour, making it an excellent choice for chilly days or when seeking comfort.

Ingredients

- 1 cup (240 ml) brewed coffee

- ½ teaspoon ground turmeric

- ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon

- ¼ teaspoon ground ginger

- 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup (optional, for sweetness)

- ¼ cup (60 ml) milk of choice (optional, for creaminess)

- ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper (enhances turmeric absorption)

Instructions:

1. Brew your coffee as you normally would.

2. In a separate saucepan, gently heat your chosen milk over medium heat until warm.

3. Add the ground turmeric, cinnamon, ginger, and black pepper to the warmed milk, stirring until well combined.

4. Pour the brewed coffee into a mug, then add the spiced milk mixture.

5. Sweeten with honey or maple syrup if desired.

6. Stir well to ensure all ingredients are thoroughly mixed.

The addition of black pepper is optional but recommended, as it enhances the absorption of curcumin, the active compound in turmeric.

For a frothy texture, consider blending the mixture briefly or using a milk frother before serving.

This Turmeric Coffee offers a comforting blend of flavors and may provide anti-inflammatory benefits, making it a delightful choice for chilly days or whenever you're seeking a cozy beverage.
