Gear Check: Defining Guvru’s Harvesting Kit

I finalized the look of Guvru from the Thummok kin and completed her basic tools and clothes to better define her character. She is an agile smaller creature perfect for providing help during the scouting related activities. She does small repair on the sleds, making sure the hashing is tight, and the food supply is enough. She is the one who prepares food for the caravan that she joins each time they harvest star iron out in the field

niir-va [ˈniːr.va] n. com

(Thummok/Pommshu Dialect) A weather-hardened protective cap featuring rounded, wind deflecting ear flaps lined with snow fowl feather or sometimes fluff fur.
Etymology: Native Nivukti compound root. Derived from niir (ear/hearing) combined with the protective suffix va (shield), maintaining the soft, melodic styling of the common harvester register

The ear; the physical organ of hearing or the sensory capacity to listen.
Etymology: Native Nivukti base root. A foundational anatomic term that serves as the root block for various auditory tools, navigation terms, and protective headgear across all dialects matching the practical, everyday style of a tundra harvester.

uuvia [ˈuː.vi.a] n. com

(Thummok/Pommshu Dialect) A traditional, moss insulated sleeveless core garment or gilet it could be hand-tufted with exterior knots; worn by foragers and artisans for core warmth during manual labor.
Etymology: Native Nivukti root, historical Thummok lineage. Developed from a phonetic shift that dropped initial harsh consonants to prioritize vowel lengthening (uu-). It bypasses the sharper consonant of the Koggu dialect variant (tsūvya) to establish an older, domestic register.

Above is the image of Guvru equipped with the basics and ready to forage with her tools on her pocket. The one in white is used for poking ice and cracks, scratching surfaces or etching runes. It is made out of bones. The one beside it is a sharpened piece of star iron it could be a knife or a dagger. I don't have a name for each tool finalized

This is the Uuvia which is like a sleeveless coat for warmth. Usually padded with moss then tufted. Other forms are several layers of fur with no quilting. It is always sleeveless for ease of movement during any manual labor. This garment is fastened with string or togtog. It comes with pockets for carrying small tools

Here you see I traded the thick blanket like Tsussut or scarf for a more narrow band of fabric intend to protect the wearer from dust or snow. It is more like a face shield now than an all purpose cloth.

The blue bunny hat is the niirva this did not exist on my first sketch of Guvru. I thought she needs protection from the harsh elements. The idea is to keep her ears showing but that defeats the purpose so I covered them with this pelt like blue material and made them rounded enough to cover her small ears

Her burnt orange face shield is given a decorative treatment to compensate for the bulky red scarf, I made it narrower but longer so she can knot the ends together and show that beautiful stripe pattern when the wind blows. She still lacks some protection for her feet and legs though. I might create those two additions next time when I find time and interest. Right now I am feeling quite satisfied already with what I have accomplished. Each new word and illustration that I made helps push this project to completion in very little increments.
